NSS

The College has two NSS Units with an approved strength of 224, which enables all students to participate in its regular activities and special camping. The units are headed by programme officers assisted by secretaries and a working committee selected from the NSS volunteers.  The Units observe all National and International days like Independence Day, Republic Day, World Food Day, World Population Day, National Youth Day, Co-operative Week, Farmer’s day, International Women’s Day, International Forest Day, World Water Day and Gandhi Jayanthi as per the mandate of National Service Scheme. The regular programmes of NSS unit are arranging talks on current topics of interest, debates & quiz programme. In addition to a number of regular activities, NSS Unit is undertaking campus cleaning, and organizing various programmes for the community as well as students.   Every year the Unit organizes a Special Camp for seven days in a backward village in the state where the students undertake a wide range of social work including manual labour and socio-economic survey of the local communities so as to identify their development problems.  The strength of the Special Camp is 50 students per unit.  The NSS Units have been participating actively in the community outreach programmes of the College.  They are also actively involved in certain activities of the Local Grama Panchayats especially relating to awareness creation programmes and creation of community assets in which volunteers from CCBM are regularly participating. A Comprehensive Skill Assessment Survey covering 2645 households and 7830 persons “PADAVAM” was conducted by BSc (Hons.) C&B students in the service area of Peringandoor Service Co-operative Bank, Athani, Thrissur District.  The report was handed over by the NSS Unit along with a ready to handle comprehensive database created as part of the survey. BSc (Hons.) C&B NSS volunteers come out with short films and documentaries on theme “Empowerment”. Seven short films/documentaries were brought out by NSS volunteers depicting the theme. The NSS Volunteers of the College has participated the National Level NSS Camp at the College of Forestry Sirsi, University of Agricultural Science, Dharwad in 2018.

 

The NSS in the CCBM is engaging all students of the college. They are regularly participating in NSS activities and also conducting different programmes in connection with national and international days. NSS inculcating the qualities like social commitment and awareness, consensus decisions, group interaction, communication skills, leadership skills and also helps to mould better citizenship in students.

Programmes organized by NSS

1. In collaborating with Mathrubhumi Club F.M, study materials were collected from among the students and faculties and handed over as part of  “Padam onnu oru kaisahayam” project on 28th May 2018,

2.  Teachers and Administrative staff of CCBM have participated in the programmes of Environmental day being organized by the University at 9.00 am on 5th June, 2018.

3. As the part of SWACHHTA PAKHWARA, NSS unit of College of Co-operation, Banking and Management organized one day awareness seminar on Swachhta. Keynote address was given by Sri.V.S. Unnikrishnan On 18th August 2018, all the students and teachers participated on Flood Relief Camp Conducted by KAU at KAU School and they provided the food, vegetables and clothing which were collected from the students and faculties. 

4. On 05-09-2018 and 06-09-2018, along with the Vellanikkara PHC, 65 NSS Volunteers and teachers of CCBM had visited Panacherry Panchayat, examined and chlorinated drinking water and provided awareness on leptospirosis.  An amount of Rs. 13,000 was donated to the Chief Ministers Disaster Relief Fund by the College.

5. As the part of the NSS Programme, NSS unit of CCBM conducted a workshop titled ‘Chekutty’ (a mascot of the emerging Keralam) at the college auditorium on 07th November 2018 to help the flood victims of Chethamangalam (Handloom Village) of Ernakulum district

6. As a part of International Women’s Day on 08-03-2019 NSS unit of CCBM conducted Self Defence Training to girl students.

7. NSS unit of CCBM celebrated International Forest Day and World Water Day  (BANQUA 2K19) on 21.03.2019 with various competitions for students of CCBM, College of Horticulutre, College of Forestry and Academy of Climate Change Education and Research.

8. NSS unit of CCBM conducted NSS Special Camp 'PRAYAN' for 2017 batch students at Government L.P. Peechi, Pananchery Panachayat, Thrissur.
